PRS AR-15, FAL And G3 Stocks By Magpul
In the PRS Magpul brought target rifle adjustment to the world of military AR derived rifles. Its immense strength has lead to extensive use by US forces. The adjustment knobs are machined from aluminium with phosphated alloy steel shafts. An inch of LOP adjustment is possible taking the stock to 0.25″ below or 0.75″ above that the the standard A2 stock. The hieight of the comb can be adjusted by 0.75″ and it is also possible to move the cheek weld up to 0.65″ fore or aft with allen bolts. Click values are 0.026″ and are protected with a positive locking detent mechanism to prevent their moving accidentally. The strong aluminium butt plate resistes impacts and is cleared to 0.50″ BMG use. Slippage is prevented by a soft rubber butt plate, a longer enhanced version of which can be purchased. At the front of the stock is a 1.25″ sling loop that can be switched to the other side. A QD sling swivel mount for pushbutton swivels is mounted in the middle of the stock and can also be moved to the alternate side as required. The Magpul PRS stock differs from previous versions in having a cover at the bottom that slips off to reveal a Picatinny accessory rail which can be used to mount a monopod or sling swivel. Four color variants of the AR version of the stock are available to suit different theatres of operation or personal taste. The PRS stock mounts to the rifle receiver extension tube without the A2 spacer – this is not included with the stock. The .308 ARs need a specific version with sufficient charging handle clearance. This is currently only available in black. If you want to put an existing AR-15 version on a .308 Magpul will sell you the necessary parts to convert it.
Magpul wanted to address the needs of users of other battle rifles. As a result FAL and G3 versions are now available. The FAL version only fits fixed stock metric rifles and will not fit folding stock paratrooper variants or any of the inch pattern British Commonwealth FALs. This version lacks the bottom accessory rail. As with the PRS the Magpul FAL stock offers the feel of a precision target rifle stock in a unit which can endure the rigors of protracted military operations. The stock can add 1.25″ on the LOP of a factory FN FAL. It also adds weight to the front heavy FN FAL rifle. Unlike the AR PRS the sling loop is vertical and attached near the butt of the rifle.
The G3 version is identical to the FAL one except for an interface to fit the pressed steel HK rifles. It also helps with balance of the otherwise nose heavy HK. This stock will also fit the HK-91, HK-93, HK-33, PTR-91 and SL-9 rifles. With some gunsmithing it can also fit the CETME. The Magpul G3 stock does not work with the HK heavy buffer. The PRS2 standard and optional extended butt pads differ from those used on the PRS.
