BEAT THE MONTH-END BILL BLUES WITH A HEAT PUMP SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM

Do you dread opening up your electricity or gas bill every month?   Does it seem that the costs of heating or cooling your home are on an upward trajectory?  And even if you’re having quick showers and switching off unnecessary lights and appliances, your costs are still spiralling?

Around a third of a domestic energy bill comes from the cost of heating water.   Installing a solar hot water system using heat pumps may be just the ticket.

The technology was developed in Australia several decades ago, but is only now gaining popularity as a preferred way of heating water in the residential market.

Roof panels have been the traditional way to use the sun’s radiant heat for heating water, and when most of us think about a solar hot water system, that’s what we imagine.  But actually, it’s not that simple.  For example, nearly 50% of households in Australia can’t have the traditional roof panel solar hot water system because of their roof’s orientation, insufficient roof space etc.

The development of heat pumps has changed all that.

Heat pumps use thermal energy – which is available in the atmosphere 24/7.  Rain or shine, frost or hail – the heat pump can extract heat from the air even if you’re pulling on your snow boots and thermal underwear !.  And because it doesn’t need direct sunlight, the heat pump technology is a more affordable and more accessible solution for solar hot water.

Ureco, a supplier of heat pumps in Perth has developed a system which is effective in most locations including rural country properties and urban apartments, and which will operate even under the harshest weather conditions.   Ureco says that heat pumps for solar hot water have been around for a while, but says that its development is one of the most energy efficient plus one of the most versatile when it comes to installation.  Because of the system’s modular design which connects an independent heat pump to a tank via water loop, the tank can be installed both inside or outside of the building.  The compressor, fan, circulation pump and digital display require only minimal energy to run – only needing a regular power point.

Ureco says their heat pump hot water system can save up to three quarters of a home’s water heating costs, plus there are savings for the environment as well.

If the costs of your water heating are getting you all hot under the collar – why not look at the very cool solution of heat pumps that are kind to your pocket and to the environment – 24/7?.
