It Is Time To Take A Break
If you work at home or telecommute, it can seem as if you are always working. Sometimes it is difficult to separate work and home life. It is often tempting to head back into your home office after dinnertime to get just one more project completed and let the family suffer.
If you have fallen into this rut, then it may be time to put work away in your home office storage and plan for a mini vacation with family or friends.
During the cold temperatures of winter, the ski slopes are perfect. You will find lots of fresh powder on those slopes so dig out the salomon ski equipment, gather some of the high protein snacks you have made with your black decker food processor, round up the family and head up to the ski resort.
Summer days are the perfect time to head to the beach. This mini vacation will cost you hardly anything, but is often enough that you can return to the job refreshed and reconnected to those you love.
Spring and autumn days are perfect for a hike in the woods or a drive through the country side. If you are an amusement park fan, these are often days of low attendance so you are able to take your time and ride some of your favorite rides. These days are also great ones for a visit to a park or a zoo.
Mini vacations can be as short as half a day but may stretch to a three or four day weekend. They are an ideal time to spend with family and to reconnect to those you love. Many people find that they are able to get more work done once they return than they would have if they had continued a normal schedule.
All of us need a temporary diversion. The pressures of work and family can leave us frazzled. The mini vacation is a time that we are able to refocus and refresh to prepare for the challenges of life.
Take a minute to think about the last time you spent a few hours with friends or family. How long has it been since you have had a chance to relax a few hours? Stop waiting and make the phone calls that will prepare for you to be away from the office and schedule a break. Even if you cannot take a spontaneous mini vacation, making plans for next week will give you a time to look forward to and may push you to reach your work goals today.
