Many Options Exist For Decorating Baby Room
Not so long ago, bedding for the nursery was limited to basic solid hues. There was white, and then pastel pink, blue, green, and yellow were added, but it was still rather boring and dull. Cotton was the only fabric offered. Next, a few prints were produced, featuring playful lambs or teddy bears. Still later, quilts began to sport cotton appliques, frequently of a fuzzy lamb. Truly interesting nursery bedding, however, remained elusive.
At length, manufacturers began to understand that they were not fulfilling the desires of the parents. They created new designs and began to use different fabrics. Bedding for baby became more interesting, and major fashion designers started to create blankets and sheets for tiny customers. Finally, the nursery moved from mere functionality to a room that could be decorated along with the rest of the house.
Individual pieces can be purchased, but many retailers are now offering everything for the crib in one complete bedding collection set. The set contains items that have the same theme. The exact elements vary, but the standard set will usually feature a crib sheet, a blanket or quilt, a bumper pad, and a dust ruffle. The set is usually more economical than buying each item separately.
Designer baby bedding can be found at many retailers online and locally. Many designers, such as Laura Ashley and Eddie Bauer, are familiar names to most. Their nursery designs vary widely, and it is possible to find geometrical designs, farm animals, flowers, and teddy bears by popular designers. Some use uncommon fabrics and textures, and they may incorporate embroidery or appliques as well.
Many different themes are available. Some are gender specific, while others are not. Pirates, cowboys, fish, sports, jungle, and animal motifs are all available. Ballerinas, flowers, butterflies, and angels can also be found. There are images of the sky or the ocean as well as alphabet characters and numbers. Some are inspired by vintage patterns, such as traditional quilts, while others are more contemporary, with modern geometric shapes. Dragonfly and ladybug baby bedding is also very popular.
Some bedding sets feature coverlets that combine a number of different textures, such as corduroy, felt, and satin to make them more interesting to baby’s touch. Organic fabrics and those made from recycled materials are also available.
Accessories can also be found that match the crib sets. Mobiles, lamps, rugs, toy bags, and diaper holders are widely available. Window treatments and wall art to match can also be found. Since there are so many themes to choose from, the only problem will lie in choosing which motif to select.
