Tips for Buying Great Tassels for Fun Projects

Tassels are a simple and yet fun accessory to add to your home, your jewelry or really any place that you would like to use them. This decorative item is an easy to use flare that can add more charm, more whimsical beauty or just add a splash of color to whatever you are creating. Best of all, they are highly inexpensive which means that you can get a lot of bang out of your dollar by investing in these items. If you are unsure how to use them, or where they work best, consider the following tips to help you.

Beads and the tassel will work well together, especially when you want to add something substantial to the look you are creating. For example, you can combine a variety of small beads with fabric to create the fingers of the tassel. This is a great way to add some extra shine and sparkle to the piece as well as adding color and glamour. With so many color choices and design options, you can select from a variety of looks. Longer raindrop beads add more length to the piece while a medallion will add more substance to the entire look. Consider all of your options in bead selection.

Beads are not the only option you have available to you when turning to tassels. You can also select the popular fiber tassel. These are simply strips of fabric, generally in string like form, which hang from the knot of the tassel. They can have as much or as little substance as necessary, to accommodate your particular needs. Most have a loop at the top to make them easy to place on various pieces of jewelry, accessories or throughout the home. They simply cinch into place. Another benefit of the fabric is that you can select from a wide range of color choices. Red, black, yellow, white and many other options are available to you. Mini fabric pieces work great for jewelry pieces, but use the larger three inch or larger pieces for handbags or for your home’s decor.

Rayon is another option for those looking for a stylish tassel for their decorating needs. Rayon is a different material, but beyond the difference in the material, these items also add a bit of elegance and formality to the look. For example, imagine a finished tie back for your drapery in your formal dining space. With these in place, you get a more formal appearance. They work well in virtually any space, though, when you select the right color. Rayon also does well at reflecting light and allows the light to radiate off of it into the space or onto the garment you are wearing. This is an easy way to add a bit of flare to your finished look.

Tie backs can be purchased separately from other types of tassel products. These are larger and have the goal of working to tie back fabric to create an “R” shape when used with a large piece of fabric, such as drapery. Select from dozens of colors and styles, from the fancy feather and bead combinations to the fiber and feather tie backs. You can look for those that offer a double ball for a bit more character in the finished piece, too. These work well for a variety of uses such as on chair covers, finishing curtains, table covers or a variety of other home decor projects.
