In this article, I’ll discuss the benefits of the MR4 Ultra laser including its laser diodes, wavelength and safety. This low level laser is great for the new or the experienced health care provider.
The MR4 Ultra Laser Diodes
There are several laser diodes that are popular for use within the physical medicine arena. Of these, the MR4 Ultra utilizes super pulsed laser diodes. As you’ll see, these super pulsed dides are a perfect fit for those working with nerve, joint and musclular problems.
MR4 Ultra Laser Wavelength
When choosing a low level laser (cold laser) for care of the neuromusculoskeletal system, super pulsed laser diodes provide fantastic results. The wavelnegths for super pulsed lasers are 904nm and 905nm. The MR4 Ultra utilizes 905nm super pulsed laser diodes.
One of the major benefits of this particlar laser wavelength is the depth of penetration. Low level lasers using this wavlength are effectively able to treat deeper tissues, such as disc, facets, nerve root and deep muscle. This can be necessary when treating deep inflammaory or pain conditions.
MR4 Ultra Laser Treatment Time
As a practitioner, your time is very valuable. That’s why it’s important to be able to treat deeper tissues in a prompt timeframe. However, there is a difference in treatment times between low level laser in deeper tissue areas.
In their book, The New Laser Handbook, Tuner and Hode demonstrate the difference in treatment time between a super pulsed laser and a continuous wave laser for deeper areas. According to Tuner and Hode, it will take a super pulsed laser 4 minutes to treat a tissue 4cm deep with a 50mW laser and a area of 50cm squared. Using these same parameters, it would take a continuous wave laser 40 minutes to perform the same treatment. That’s a significant difference that you need to be aware of.
MR4 Ultra Laser Safety
Even though low level lasers are relatively safe, there are safety precautious that need to be monitored. Since the MR4 Ultra uses a super pulsed laser, there is limited, if any, heat buildup. This makes the MR4 Ultra laser one of the safest lowlevel lasers on the market today.
MR4 Ultra Laser Emitters
The MR4 Ultra laser comes with two emitters. The first is the LaserStim, which combines super pulsed laser treatment with electrical stimulation. These can be used together or separately. The second emitter is the LaserShower. The LaserShower is either the LS 50 (with 4 super pulsed laser diodes) or the LS 50 6D (with 6 super pulsed laser diodes).
